as the days start heating up and summer rolls back into our lives, the only fabric we want to see ourselves in is linen; but why? what makes linen our go-to fabric for when all we want is to go-to somewhere with air conditioning or better yet, a pool?
just as cotton is a textile made from the fibers of the cotton plant, linen is a textile made from the fibers of the flax plant. yes, that multigrain you sprinkle onto your acai bowl every morning is also what some of your clothes are made of! ah, the versatility of it all.
flax grows naturally and requires less water and fewer pesticides than cotton, making it the more eco-friendly fabric. because it's a natural fiber, linen is also recyclable and completely biodegradable, keeping both you and our planet looking their best.
linen is much more laborious to manufacture than cotton, but the end result is a material that is very absorbent, with exceptional coolness and freshness in hot weather. this is due to the way in which the molecular structure of linen allows it to absorb moisture (aka perspiration) without ever feeling clammy on your skin. linen garments are also woven in a way that allows air to freely flow through it; making it feel as if you're wearing nothing but the lightest sheet of sunlight.

linen has a much lower elasticity than cotton, which means that it wrinkles easily. however, the tendency to wrinkle is part of linen's particular charm. but on the off chance that you already possess charm in spades, linen is one of the easiest materials to take care of; because of it's ability to withstand high temperatures (not to mention it's ability to never lint or start pilling), you can simply steam, machine-wash, or dry-clean your garments.

linen's exceptional breathability and it's unique ability to absorb moisture are the reasons why we love wearing it in the summer. but besides that, we love linen for it's cool to the touch feeling, natural luster, smoothness, durability, and easiness. keep your eyes peeled as we release more amazing linen pieces in our spring/summer 2018 collection!
