meet: the esby models

we design for women who inspire us, and we look for the same women to bring esby apparel to you. esby models inspire us with their style, their work ethic, their sense of humor and their friendship. we want to share them with you. follow along as we profile them all, and get to know the esby models.

we were charmed by heydon as soon as she walked into our holiday pop-up in the fall and we're thrilled to have her as the face of the esby spring/summer17 collection. she's a photographer, works for a local organic farm, and just moved back from iceland. we're swooning.
after perusing this interview, check out her insta for a peak into life-in-austin (including some amazing, vintage photos of her mom!)

where do you live and what do you do?

i live in austin's hyde park neighborhood. work life comprises of a medley of things - freelance marketing, dabbling in graphic design, writing the farm blog for johnson's backyard garden, and an amalgam of other odd jobs, like dog-sitting and floral work. i'm currently trying to go back to school for landscape design, too.

is there a new hobby or activity that you are enjoying?

learning ASL. i studied linguistics in college... language learning has always been an immensely fun and extremely satisfying process for me. my late aunt, harriett, was fluent and always taught me little tidbits when we were together, which is what initially piqued my interest in sign language.

coffee or tea?

coffee, with a little splash of milk. nothing better than that caffeine buzz in the early morning.

french fries or crusty bread?

mmm, warm crusty bread with some salty butter.

what is a favorite fashion trend you wish was a classic

overalls - i've had this one pair since college that is falling apart at the seams, but i just don't have the heart to get rid of them yet. i keep on patching them together in hopes they'll make it just... one... more... year.

practical magic film

what’s the best fashion movie, book, or magazine?

i am not sure if practical magic is considered a "fashion movie" but i would don every divine piece of loose, flowery, velvety garb (not to mention fabulous robes, oversized jewels, and floppy hats) that all the owens' sisters wear. i hope my future includes an idyllic home with an amazing garden like diane west's and stockard channing's in the movie. i digress, but that kitchen and the conservatory!? plus, sisters are the best, and the story is a giant ode to the sister-bond.

what’s your morning ritual

mosey to the coffee shop down the street, check the news at some point, prune the plants, fit in a quick yoga video (if time permits), and log into work. mornings are and have always been my favorite time of day, it's when i get the most done.

esby apparel journal

do you have a guilty pleasure

hmm, probably acquiring new plants? i have an insatiable green thumb. or maybe relishing the juicy tabloid headlines of the goings-on in tinseltown while in the grocery store line? they are just so ridiculous sometimes. i love starting conversations with strangers about the magazines while waiting to buy groceries.

what's the esby piece you wish you were wearing right now and how you would style it?

that's a hard one, if i could, i would wear all esby all the time. such comfortable, thoughtfully-designed, and beautiful clothes. when i was modeling some of the pieces, i think that the most comfortable and stylish outfit was the baronne linen duster, the val twill pant, and the bamboo poppy top together. otherwise, the duffy jumper (with the v-cut in the back) by itself with some platforms. that jumper is seriously the best - can't wait to get mine!

who is an influential woman in your life?

can I say all the women in my life? i'm so lucky to be surrounded and inundated with strong, influential women, whether it be my super awesome ladyfriends or the many matriarchs within my family. i feel so fortunate to be a small piece of a community of females who support and raise each other up. i definitely would not be who i am now if it weren't for them.
